Into the Mountains: Silence and Solitude with God

Sometimes, the best way to hear God is to step away from the noise. That’s exactly what we did on our recent camping trip with the youth—a weekend that blended adventure, discipleship, and intentional time with God.

The focus of the trip was simple but profound: time with God. Each day, we started with a devotional, setting the tone by grounding ourselves in God’s Word. Afterward, we spent intentional, personal time in silence and Scripture, away from distractions. For many of the youth, this was a new experience.

One young person shared, “I didn’t know I could feel this close to God just by being still and reading the Bible.” That comment reflected the heart of what the weekend was all about—helping the youth learn how to connect with God personally and grow in their faith on their own.

Beyond the quiet moments, the trip embodied two key aspects of discipleship: teaching and living life together. As we hiked, cooked meals, and shared stories around the fire, the youth saw what it means to walk with God in the everyday moments. Through devotionals and conversations, we explored what it looks like to grow in faith, not just in a group but individually.

This time away wasn’t just a breath of fresh air; it was a step forward in the discipleship journey for everyone involved. The 5 young men returned with a deeper hunger for God’s Word, practical tools for personal growth, and the encouragement of experiencing faith in community.

Would you pray with us for these young men? Pray that the seeds planted during their time in the mountains will take root and grow as they build daily rhythms of seeking God.

Trips like this are a reminder of why discipleship is so vital—teaching, training, and sharing life together are all ways God works to transform hearts. We look forward to seeing how He continues to move in the lives of these youth!
