Light in the center of Craiova

This past June, we experienced a true miracle of God’s faithfulness as we hosted an outreach event in the heart of Craiova during the city’s largest summer festival. In a city of 250,000 people, it was the first time a local church had ever been part of something so public and central. With God’s guidance, we were given an incredible opportunity: not only were we granted a spot at the festival, but we were also placed at the prime location—on the corner near the main entrance! This was nothing short of an answer to prayer.
The preparation leading up to the event was significant. From designing games to gathering prizes and organizing a craft station for little ones, every detail required effort, teamwork, and prayer. But all that work was worth it when we saw so many youth that came to visit our station.

Our setup included engaging games for youth, a creative corner for young children to engage in crafts, and a warm and welcoming presence that fostered numerous conversations. Our objective was straightforward: to be present in the community, establish connections, and embody the love of Christ.
The response was overwhelming. Families stopped by, youth laughed and played the minute to-win-it games, and some parents stayed to chat. Many were surprised to see a Protestant church participating in such a significant way, and this gave us a chance to break down some long-held misconceptions. In a region where Protestant churches are often misunderstood, this event helped paint a new picture of who we are—people who care deeply about the community and desire to share the love of God.
This outreach wasn’t just about one weekend, though. It marked the beginning of something much bigger. Through the connections we made at the festival, we’ve been able to continue our outreach in local parks with the approval of the local government. These ongoing efforts allow us to deepen relationships with youth, our main focus, meet new youth, and continue sharing the hope of Christ in everyday, approachable ways.
We are so grateful for how God worked through this event. It was an answer to months of prayer and a testament to His ability to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine. Our hope is that these efforts will continue to soften hearts, open doors, and ultimately point people to Him.
Pray that God will use these small steps of faith to break down barriers, shine His light in Craiova, and show His love to a community that desperately needs Him. To Him be the glory for all that was done—and all that is still to come!
